Angel Baldenegro and Lucia Romero are my Maternal Grandparents. My Grandfather was born in Ocoroni, Sinaloa, Mexico to the parents of Bencesloa Baldenegro and Dolores Ruperta Espinosa. My Grandmother was born in Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico, to the parents of Trinidad Romero and Angela. They came to Bisbee, Arizona in 1900 according to the census. They were married on May 25, 1925 in Bisbee, Arizona. They had 6 children, Celilio, Francisco, Mary, Angel, Ruperta, and Dolores. Celilio, and Francisco died when they were infants.
I am the daughter of Dolores Baldenegro. My Grandparents helped raised their Granddaughter, Socorro Swaney Sanchez. My Grandmother had two other children prior, they were: Rosa Gonzales and Gregorio Leyvas. They baptized all their children at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
In the 1917 Bisbee directory, it tells me that my Grandfather worked for the Copper Queen Mining Co. as a surface miner. By 1926 Angel was listed in the directory working for the Chaddick-Denn Mining Co. They lived in Upper Dubacher Canyon which is near the Cochise Shaft where he worked. In 1942 he was listed still working for the Chaddick -Denn Mining Co. They lived in the community for over fourty years. My Grandparents are buried at the Evergreen Cemetery in Bisbee.
